Adobe Reader Crashes

When I try to open Adobe Reader it usually hangs and I have to force quit it. Sometimes it will open the document and then crash a few seconds later.

I'm on Mountain Lion with Adobe Reader 11.0.0

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Does the problem continue from a newly-created user? (Note that this is a troubleshooting test, not a solution.)

Seems to be working fine for new users.

I have to ask if it's necessary for you to use Adobe Reader. The are better alternatives for almost all pdf tasks (Preview ships with OS X and works very well without the Adobe bloat).

I generally use Preview but I have documents which need to print the same on a Windows and OS X machine. Preview seems to add larger margins so it is slightly different than when Adobe Reader is used on the Windows machine.

You just need to make sure that Preview prints at 100% size in the print dialog. The default is to scale to fit the page, which reduces it slightly for the printer's margins.
There is a defaults write command to make Preview print at 100% as default. Type or copy this into the Terminal:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.Preview PVImagePrintingScaleMode 0
