Using MBP 10.8.2:
In OSX 10.6 there was a way to search (sidebar option) for "today" "This week" "This month" in order to narrow down recent files. (same concept still active for "history" in Firefox or Safari). Example, I downloaded a file this morning, can't remember what it was called, but if I clicked on that sidebar option (TODAY), it'll show me all files last-opened today (including those downloaded today). How can I do this now? Those sidebar standard options are gone, and unless I search by FILENAME, I get a lot of irrelevant junk. Thanks!! CZ |

Those were/are smart folders. You can create a new one from the Finder > File > New Smart Folder menu item (or key shortcut) and add your search criteria - the equivalent for "Today" would be to search for Kind is Document, Last Opened Date is today. When saving the search, you can add it to the sidebar.
