Similar black and white MacBooks use the same bluetooth board.
However, there's two different bluetooth boards over the _5_ different MacBook models that also came with black cases.
The model identifier, from the System Profiler, will help decide which board (and therefore the correct part number)
It will be similar to "MacBook2,1"
1,1 & 2,1 take part number 922-7288
3,1 & 4,1 take part number 922-8349

There's several vendors that offer Apple parts - just google by the part number.
You'll find a wide range of prices, too.

That's great Delta, thank you very much.

For future reference, is there a site that will help me easily find part numbers?

Also, did these BT boards have a significant failure rate, do you happen to know?

I got those numbers out of Apple's service manuals, so those are easy, and you can often find those somewhere on the net. Getting the correct manual for the model that YOU have, may not always be simple or quick.
Easily find all Apple part numbers? Sure! at gsx.apple.com (Apple's service site)
You have to qualify as a certified Apple tech, or have some other direct connection to Apple service, to get access to that site.

OK Delta, that's clear. No easy way then?

Would I be right in assuming the initial search is best done with the "A" model number and try and refine from there then?

If you are looking for the service manual for YOUR MacBook, then best to look for the manual for your particular model, as designated by Apple, such as MacBook (13-inch Late 2007). Those can be (probably) found somewhere on the 'net. I do see the service manuals come and go from various sites, as Apple seems to prefer to keep full service data to itself. But, here's the earliest MacBook service manual, as an example: http://www.scribd.com/doc/49373356/m...Service-Manual
The A-number (A1181 for all the early MacBooks until Apple started using different materials for the case) will not be specific enough. There's only about 12 different MacBooks that use that number (including the white and black models.
