As DeltaMac hinted, simply copying the contents of files in the user Library may not be the best strategy, as newer versions of the programs will have different data structures or syntax, and so they will expect the data to be arranged in a different way.
However, you can see how far that gets you, and then do importing/exporting for those things that don't seem to work well.
