Terminal doesnt find IPs offered by VPN
Hi folks,
I just entered PPTP-VPN credentials and somehow i cannot ping/access any server offered by an internal IP. But, i do have access to http/https-Ports via browser. :/ I'm running OS X 10.8.2 and further configuration is: √ Send all traffic over VPN connection ( if this is deactivated, i don't even have access via browser ) Configure IPv4 : set to "USING PPP" Configure IPv6 : set to "Automatically" no Proxies, no DNS-Settings /etc/hosts - without remarkable entries .ssh/known_hosts - quite long, but no ip-intersections Hopefully someone here could help me ! ![]() Lars |

Check what your IP address is (in Network Prefs).
Is it in the range of those in the local network that you have VPN'd into? If not, it sounds like your VPN is not working.

Yeah, right now my computer has 10.32.2.6 in the extended LAN, the gateway router is 10.32.2.10 and my LAN-IP is 192.168.1.102.
The preferred server, which is in my extended lan and i want to connect to has 10.16.x.x and because of the following line in my routing table i think, the gateway for this server is correct, too. 10.16/16 10.32.2.10 UGSc 1 8 ppp0 I could access this server via browser, but not ping via terminal. |

Note that lots of network admins don't allow ping across routers so maybe that is your problem. Does 'ping' work when you are physically at the office?
I.e. don't rely on 'ping' as an indicator of non-connectivity. Note too that web browsers can of course (often/usually) be accessed from outside of the local network, so HTTP access is not an indicator that you are on the local network.
