iPhoto and the Alert Monster

I recently attempted to delete a bunch of photos off of iPhoto. When I restarted it, a new folder appeared titled "Recovered Photos". When I tried to move it over to the trashcan a constant stream of "Alerts" keep popping up, notifying me of every individual photo (2,930 to be exact) is not there.

I just wanted to delete the dag'gum folder, which I'm assuming is just the remaining shells of the photos, but I cannot get past the Alert Monster to erase the folder. This is insanely annoying. After some research, I've learned how to completely erase the photos without having to deal with this again, but for now, how do I get past the Alert Monster to delete the folder?

Is there a way to turn off these alerts?

Or, is there another way to delete the folder?

Thank you for any help you can offer!
