Two iMovies in Launchpad?
And now, for my last annoying issue of the day:
why are there 2 iMovie icons in Launchpad? There's only 1 instance of that program in my applications folder. I thought it might have been other back up copies, but I hunted them all down, compressed them, tossed the uncompressed ones, and rebooted. Still 2 iMovie icons! as a great comedian once said...it's always something... thanks for any views or thoughts on this. a |

If you click on "Open With...", do you get two instances listed there? It's possible it's a corrupted LaunchServices database.
Can you launch them both? What happens? |

doing Open With on an iMovie Project produces just 1 instance of iMovie. Doing same on a .mov file or .avi produces no instances of iMovie. I launched 1 icond from launchpad; the other upon clicking gets a ghosted question mark over it. which is cool, but..how can I get rid of that phantom iMovie icon? thank you! a |

Hold down <alt> in Launchpad. You then get the iOS-style "Wibble" and "x" delete option. The delete actually deletes the app, though, so be careful that it doesn't remove iMovie completely.

well that appears to have solved it. Now..do I need to try to learn where that 2nd, superfluous iMovie icon came from?
I quit the running iMovie after doing the above move and relaunched it successfully, so it appears that I just got rid of the useless icon. thank you! a |
