Windows programs on Mac
I'm running 10.7.5 and am interested in a program currently available only for Windows. The authors suggest Wine and CrossOver Mac as solutions that do not require a Windows CD. Any word on which is preferable? Any good reviews available? Wine is free, so I'd like to go with it if practical.
Thanks and regards, Leonard |

Crossover is powered by Wine.
Not all Windows apps are well supported, and some are not supported at all. Check at the Crossover web site, where there is a good list of apps that generally work OK with Crossover. http://www.codeweavers.com/products/ Just curious, what app do you need to use? |

I want to use a genealogy program called RootsMagic. I've been using a Mac-only program (Personal Ancestry Writer), but I need to co-ordinate my efforts with a PC user. The authors of RootsMagic say the app will run with Wine or Crossover.

There's a support page for setting up RootsMagic with Crossover.
http://www.codeweavers.com/via/rootsmagic5 So, if you want to try the free Wine, then you'll have another choice if you can't get Wine to work with that. |

@Raibrairred
If LeonardH had a PC (running Windows), then the question that he posted here would be unnecessary. He's asking about running a Windows-only app on a Mac running OS X I am not sure why you think that screenshots, and "music" would be needed, so perhaps you meant to post on a different thread, and not on this thread at all? |
