BT Keyboard and Mouse stop working
Hello
The Apple BT keyboard (A1314 model 2009) and Logitech M470 BT Mouse (with the latest Logitech software version 3.6) connected to my Mac mini (2009 w. Mac OS 10.7.4) started to stop working at the same time several times in a month. I had to connect a USB Keyboard and Mouse to control the computer. No freezing or need to hard reset; just the Bluetooth function stopped working. The BT icon on top right shows the normal functioning symbol, as if both keyboard and mouse are connected and working. Here is the console output: Code:
04.12.2012 01:47:14,000 kernel: [AppleBluetoothHIDKeyboard][sendData][e8-06-88-5b-3e-18] commandSleep in sendData returned an error 04.12.2012 01:47:14,000 kernel: [AppleBluetoothHIDKeyboard][sendData][e8-06-88-5b-3e-18] commandSleep in sendData returned an error 04.12.2012 01:47:14,000 kernel: [AppleBluetoothHIDKeyboard][sendData][e8-06-88-5b-3e-18] commandSleep in sendData returned an error 04.12.2012 01:47:14,000 kernel: [AppleBluetoothHIDKeyboard][sendData][e8-06-88-5b-3e-18] commandSleep in sendData returned an error 04.12.2012 01:47:14,000 kernel: [AppleBluetoothHIDKeyboard][sendData][e8-06-88-5b-3e-18] commandSleep in sendData returned an error 04.12.2012 01:47:14,000 kernel: [AppleBluetoothHIDKeyboard][waitForHandshake][e8-06-88-5b-3e-18] Timeout waiting for handshake 04.12.2012 01:47:25,000 kernel: [IOBluetoothHIDDriver][handleStart] staticPrepControlChannelAction returned error e00002c0 04.12.2012 01:47:25,000 kernel: [IOBluetoothHIDDriver][handleStart] calling staticWillTerminateAction(). 04.12.2012 01:47:25,000 kernel: [IOBluetoothHIDDriver][handleStart] Failed. 04.12.2012 01:47:55,000 kernel: [IOBluetoothHIDDriver][handleStart] staticPrepControlChannelAction returned error e00002c0 04.12.2012 01:47:55,000 kernel: [IOBluetoothHIDDriver][handleStart] calling staticWillTerminateAction(). 04.12.2012 01:47:55,000 kernel: [IOBluetoothHIDDriver][handleStart] Failed. I'd like to prevent this from happening. What can be done to prevent it? Thanks. As an additional note: One or two weeks ago, the Logitech BT Mouse was causing freeze problems and I was having to shutdown the computer by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. After I updated the Logitech's Control Software to its latest version 3.6 that problem is gone.

Have you not yet downloaded the 10.7.5 combined update? I know that you have mentioned that's an issue for you with a 2GB download... but, here's a link to the download page for that.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1582 try that update, and also try the couple of fixes listed on this page: http://ismashphone.com/2011/08/how-t...on-issues.html I'm not too sure that I'd do the one that needs the developer tools installed, but it's a choice, I suppose. |

Thank you for the links.
The second link seems to be quite effective; it allowed me to revise every settings of the Bluetooth, and I did a general maintenance on Bluetooth using it. My machine already got the XCode installed as I'm doing certain types of development jobs (web development) but I didn't know if such a special tool for BT existed within XCode really. I think that's fine now. By the way, I'm still using the old 80GB SSD because opening the Aluminum case of the Mac mini requires special attention and time. An OS update is still due in the future.
