Web Cam Output

I run a web cam. Until recently it was on an old PowerBook.

I'd like to get rid of the PowerBook and run the web cam on my main machine, a Mac Mini.

Trouble is, when the account on which the web cam software is running is in the background, the USB camera somehow gets disconnected from that account.

Is there any way to make sure the camera output always sticks to a single account rather than to the currently switched in account?
