Question 9.1 running on 10.4

Hi
i wanna play SimCity 2000 and have CD with 9.1 which I wanna install but I'm afraid that when I instal it from the CD, then my computer will be running on 9.1 instead on 10.4? I just want to use it sometimes via the "classsic", how do I do that? Dragging 9.1 system folder on running 10.4 doesn't works, I'm getting: "Classic Startup failed to start due to an error [-1].", it starts from CD though.

The installer won't do a "clean" install, i.e. wipe the disk, unless you tell it to. It should just install the OS 9 System Folder and leave everything else as it is.
You may need to update to 9.2.2 to get Classic working, I'm not sure. (It's been a long time.)

In any case, even if the installer did delete your OS X system, or anything else, that shouldn't be a problem, because you've got a complete backup of all your files, haven't you?

Also - if your Mac can't boot to OS 9, then you have little to fear about that.

It would help to know exactly which Mac you are using...
I think all you would really need is the 9.1 System Folder.
Then, open your System Preferences, and click the Classic pref pane. It will allow you to choose from OS 9 System Folders, and may get your setup working.
