CiJScannerRegister related to Canon printer
When I looked at my NetBarrier Monitor, there was one file which is called "CijScannerRegister". It always kept sending out without your knowledge. So, I deleted it successfully. It's for a Canon's printer.
Unfortunately, iMac's App Store update keeps telling me to update the Canon's same version because I deleted that filename. How can I stop App Store to tell me that I have to update it? For your information about cijiscannerregister on Apple's website: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0 I think that cijiscannerregister is not a virus, but Canon could spy to memory our documents from scanning them. If you unplug the printer's ethernet, then it might be okay. I am not sure about the scanner's memory that could store in your computer waiting to be sent out to Canon on the internet. I dunno. It could be ridiculous for me to say that... it is better than sorry. |

I think you are over-reacting, and the process is simply part of the Canon printer software.
I would suggest that you reinstall your Canon software (which should result in reinstalling the CljScannerRegister file, too). Then, a better plan (if you don't care for the communicating that file provides) is to disable the process, then rename the file, so it doesn't run on its own. There's 4 lines to type in the terminal to do that here: http://www.help2go.com/content/tutor...rregister.html |

Are you suggesting that every document printed on a Canon printer gets sent to the company? For what purpose? That would be an impossible amount of data to process for anything useful to the company. It would almost certainly be illegal in most countries, and security professionals would have noticed, investigated and reported it. The Apple Discussion page you linked to says the following: "This is an old file and is used for network connections to an older model of Canon All In One device. It is not trying to connect online, simply find a Canon device on your local network. The file is located in Library/Image Capture/Support/LegacyDeviceDiscoveryHelpers. If you don't have the Canon device any longer or if you don't scan from it via the network then you could trash this file." The only thing that programs like Net Barrier Monitor does is to make you worry about network connections. |
