Slideshow time spacing

Does anyone know how i can change the time the slideshow ( 10.8.2 ) takes to move from one pic to the next. By default it appears to change every 5 seconds. Is there anyway to make the changover time longer or shorter?

Any help gratefully accepted.

Gee, it may help to say what application you're using. Itunes, iPhoto, etc... Please don't make people read between the lines.

I am highlighting various pictures in Finder & then pressing Alt- Space to create a slideshow. Hope that helps.
