Mail.app 6.2, SMTP port reverting

Hi.

I am running self-hosted email account (IMAP). I use Mail.app (6.2) on Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on a MacBook Air 11" (2012 refresh).

I have my SMTP server set up to use port 2525, since so my ISP (Comcast, grr) blocks the usual SMTP ports.

This set up works great -- except that since upgrading to Mountain Lion the port my SMTP server uses keeps reverting to the old port. I go into advanced settings and change it back to 2525 over and over again, am able to send mail for awhile, then it reverts to the typical IMAP port.

I've googled the apple forums and this site, but not found a remedy. Any thoughts? Plists I can kill?

Thanks,
Kawliga

IMAP port should not use 2525 as that is reserved for SMTP ;-)

Use Port 587 (submission) and configure that in your SMTP config files.

Why don't you do something normal like get a local ISP to host for you?

Now a days most of them have a client interface similar to hotmail or gmail. (Not as good, but till very secure and private).

Comcast?

Comcast blocks what?

Not my experience, as a longtime Comcast POP user.

OS 10.8.3, Mail 6.3, "Use default ports," SSL, Authentication: Password.
