MS wireless mouse vs. Mac bluetooth keyboard
Tried using an MS wireless mouse (the kind with the tiny USB tranceiver) on an iMac (32 bit, running Snow Leopard). The mouse worked immediately, but suddenly the Mac said it could not find the (Mac Bluetooth) keyboard. After I removed the tranceiver, the keyboard worked again. Is this a known incompatibility? Any way around it? Any wireless mouse (other than Apple) that is known not to interfere with the Bluetooth?

That's odd. I use a Logitech wireless mouse w/the usb transciever along with an Apple bluetooth wireless keyboard with my MPB and it works as expected. Any messages in the console?

What type of connectivity is the Microsoft transceiver providing? It it's adding Bluetooth, I'm wondering if having two Bluetooth signals is causing the keyboard issue. And since Microsoft has made lots of peripherals, how about specifying which mouse this is?

Thanks for the (quick) responses.
Well, it so happened that we also had a Logitech wireless mouse to try, so I tried plugging in its tranceiver. I got the same immediate message about not being able to identify the keyboard, telling me to hit the key to the right of the left shift key (that would be Z). Nothing in the console. In spite of the messages, after doing this, both the mouse and the keyboard work. And to answer sodium hydroxide, the MS one is a Wireless Mouse 3500 (and does not mention anything about Bluetooth). It also says on the label with the S/N: MODEL NO.:1427,1447. Anyway, looks like we'll be sticking with the Logitech and returning the MS. -- David |
