Can't Find Slider (scroll bar)

Since downloading 10.8.2, I've had trouble finding a slider to move copy up and down the page ... It should be easier, but I don't know how to adjust ... Easy question?? ... Mike

You are going to have to give us some more context for your question.
What application are you talking about? What is "copy"?

I'm guessing that Mike Heffron is struggling with scroll bars...

Can you use your mouse, or trackpad for scrolling?

I upgraded?? to a MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.2 (12C60) after which I came into a lot of problems with my e-mail ... Can't send group e-mails from my address book and can't find an easy way to move up and down the page ... There is no visible slide to do so ... I can get to a slide by clicking on the margin, but that is a pain ... Is there a manual for this e-mail package? ... Mike Heffron

What computer did you have before your new MacBook Pro?
You can easily scroll up and down with your trackpad. It's a standard gesture, swiping up or down with two fingers touching the trackpad.
Does that help you at all?
Or, are you having problems with the dividers in the Mail window? You can mouse across those dividers, and the cursor will change to a double arrow with a perpendicular line. You can use that cursor to click-drag the divider to another location, or double-click the divider bar, which will cause it to retract to the window edge.

To send an email to everyone in an Address Book Group, open the Address Panel in Mail, choose the group, tab to highlight, and Select All (Command A).

Or from within Address Book app, right-click on the group. One of the options is send email to Group.

As for the scroll bars ("sliders"): Apple has come to the conclusion that you do not need to move the pointer to a specific control and then manipulate it, in order to scroll. To emphasise the point, Apple has removed scroll arrows from scroll bars.
Nearly every input device already has a method of scrolling -- such as a scroll wheel or ball on a mouse, or using "gestures" on a Trackpad. You can also scroll with the Page Up and Page Down buttons. This makes an object on the screen for the purpose of scrolling unnecessary. Scroll bars do still have a use in showing you where you are in a document, of course.

There is a preference in System Prefs > General so that you can always show the scroll bars. By default they are hidden unless you are actually scrolling. Even so, you should not need to move the point over to them and move the bar, just to scroll.

Ah - I changed the title of this thread to reflect that.

Apple I believe figured that two finger scroll was uber amazing and made elevator scroll bars unnecessary and labor intensive. I agree with this from a functional perspective, two finger scrolling is better, faster and easier. But for those who do not know about and are hunting around with hide and seek scroll bars this is painful.

I think Apple figured people would be forced to find two finger scrolling, not all do.

And among things I change on every machine i set up for others Beyond the always show scroll: Right Click/Contextual click bottom right corner, turning off natural scrolling, and tap to click, show file name extensions, show HD, Server, volumes, DVDs, etc and under security require pass word immediately to off or some sane time interval if the user wishes.

I have set scroll bars to be displayed by default so I can see how far down a page I am, but I still use two finger scrolling.
