Partitioning my Hard Drive
On my 1.5 GHZ PowerPC Mac Mini I am unable to partition my Hard Drive.
I have no problem partitioning on my other PowerPC. I am trying to create 1 Partition, but cannot name it, its greyed out, can't Apply, its greyed out, what am i doing wrong. i have no install disc. |

Are you running as an administrator?
Do you have a reasonable amount of free space? Does the issue persist if you restart the machine in target disk mode and connect it to the other machine? |

No, i'm not running as an Administrator...should I?
Yes plenty of free space Yes, i started it in the target disk mode and connected to the other machine. |

Are you trying to partition an external hard drive? (erase completely?)
Or, are you trying to add a partition to one that already exists (split a partition) You can't partition a drive that you are booted to, if you have file sharing turned on, or you are sharing the files or partition already on the drive in some other way. What process are you using to partition a hard drive, if you are not booting from some other hard drive? Im trying to partition my HD on my 1.5 PowerPC. I have it connected to my older Mini PowerPC by firewire.
Alas....I had it back asswords, i did it, the partition worked, thank you for your assistance. Paul |
