How to migrate from an external drive..?

Recently a friend's Macbook Pro died, so she took out the hard drive and put it in an enclosure. She just bought a Macbook Air and now wants to migrate her old disk (including all sys settings & preferences) to the new machine.

Is it possible to do this using Apple's Migrate even now when her old internal drive is an external one?

Appreciate any help or pointers to how this can be done.

Sounds like your friend has everything she needs to do this...
Connect the external drive to the new MBAir.
Open Migration Assistant on the MBAir.
Follow the directions.
The Migration Assistant will transfer files, settings and apps to the new MBAir.
