iBook Lockup

I have a 500MHZ iBook and am running os 10.2.3. Recently when i close the computer and open it up later the screen comes on but the mouse and keyboard don't respond. I'll try closing it again and the screen shuts off but the computer doesn't fully go to sleep. The only solution to get out of this state is to reboot. what can i do to prevent this from happening in the future?

Several of us have experienced this problem as discussed in this other thread:
http://forums.macosxhints.com/showth...&threadid=8249
which offers some suggestions but nothing definite.

Ya my symptoms are similar to that of stuarts. But i havn't noticed anything to do with my power cord. When i put it to sleep and wake it up i havn't unplugged my power cord. One thing i have noticed is that in iTunes when i unplug my power cord the song stops for about half a second. this might be related and it might not. It's just odd that the screen still works but the keyboard and mouse are the only thing that's not working. It acts just like it has locked up but the screen will still respond when I close and open the iBook. I read all the posts on the referred link you gave me and i didn't find any solutions. But there is one thing. A little while back i had a logitech mouse and I downloaded the logitech control center and installed that. In the prefrences it says the .plist for the control center was modified yesterday around when it locked up. I don't have the mouse any more so is there a way i could remove this from my system preferences?
