I just read at the fink-users list a post by Max Horn (Fink Project leader) with the following:

So, if we make 'fink selfupdate-cvs' and it doesn't work...now we know why.

2003-01-17: Anonymous CVS issues resolved

UPDATE:

We are pleased to announce that SourceForge have resolved the issues with anonymous CVS access, and the selfupdate-cvs command should work again.
