Caller ID solutions for OS X and modern Macs?

In the past, there was a nice caller ID peripheral (ADB) and software combo for Macintosh computers- Big Island Yoyo.

That product and company went away, then Macs changed- no serial port, built-in modem WITHOUT caller ID, and Mac OS X.

The Yoyo logged calls and performed a host of other nifty functions. It was great to use.

I really miss capturing the data that Yoyo used to help manage.

Are there any good caller ID solutions available???

vertigo- try taking a more careful look at the messages you cited, but failed to link. the posts are not redundant.

closest thing to it, perhaps might be caller ID posts. the first post asked for specific info re: apple internal modem. no response, so I posted second query looking for a more general solution. similar for other posts. the file deletion question was both a Mac OS X System issue and a unix file system issue.

do you have any solutions? if so, please post some helpful information. thanks.

bump

Actually, they are redundant as you so nicely point out in the rest of your post.

After starting the 'Caller ID solutions for OS X and modern Macs?' thread you seem to have waited all of three minutes to ask about 'Caller ID solutions for OS X and modern Macs?' in another thread you authored. You started another thread to ask a question that could have just been added to your original post. It seems silly to me to open up a new thread just to clarify the topic. It was a redundant post.

In the thread 'Best cellular phone for use with Mac OS X' you ask what phones might meet your requirements. But before anyone has answered you in that thread you start another one: 'ANY cellular phones compatible with Mac OS X????'. Why couldn't you just ask this question in your original thread, thus bumping it and clearifying your needs?

Then to top if off we have the post 'How to undelete files emptied from trash in Mac OS X??!??' which is followed up 2 days later with the thread 'Undelete trashed Mac OS X files?', but wisely the Site Admin, Craig R. Arko, locks with the comment:

Duplicate Thread

I can't think of any, but if anyone does, please post the reply in this thread in the 'System' forum so we don't have this scattered in multiple places. I'm closing this one.

Thanks.

You started this thead just to ask if there are any UNIX utilities that might do what you need, as stated in your first thread.

So, to me at least, you are spamming the forums with duplicate threads seemingly to get a quicker response (if one thread is good..., two must be better!).

I stand by my original comment. Give it a rest. And attempting to criticize me for only ragging on your bad etiquette and not offering solutions to those threads is just as silly.

Oh, and P.s., you seem to have done it again here:

'Rebound to previously opened or saved file (or folder)'

and

'Please help!- Problem? Save file dialog navigation is messed up'

At least you waited 7 minutes before reposting...

um, the two posts ask different questions. guess that is lost on you. busier people tend to prefer threads with specific subjects because it saves time when browsing for information.

obviously, you have too much time on your hands.

despite all your blather, you haven't posted anything useful or on-topic here.

your time would be better spent researching information that would be productive, but that's a personal decision for you to make.

I think that I made my point clearly and effectively. As to whether or not you will take my advice is another matter. I truly am just trying to point out to you that, even though you feel your posting style is OK, it could be even better.

Busy people like to have all relevant info in one place so that all replies are there too. Splitting up your posts into one or more subtopics makes finding Q&A discussions more problematic than they need be.

My guess is that you will feel that what I have written is a personal attack on you rather than your style. If that is the case you will likely ignore what I have said and this could become a "Yes you did" and "No I didn't" kind of debate. You know where I stand and I think you are not hearing what I am saying. C'est la vie, n'est pas?

You are right about one thing: my time could be better spent than debating the merits of this thread. Thanks for at least hearing me out.

fair enough. points well taken.

[rhetorical question] why didn't you say that the FIRST time?

your initial post, with your remarks: "Give it a rest", "What's the deal with all of your redundant posts?", and "Yikes" do not communicate that. Just another meaningless flame.

So, maybe the lesson for you is to think before you post, and communicate more responsibly and effectively, instead of flaming away as you did.

the moderators don't want it. if a member can foist effective censure upon a redundant poster, we welcome it.

let's quit the bickering and redundant cross-posting and focus on content.
