I must have changed the name of something I shouldn't have because now when I get to the login screen it shows me (as the login) and now it shows *other*!! This was not there before and I donl't know how to get it back to where I was the only account to select from upon logging in. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this *other* login?

root activated
Yes I did yesterday. But I logged out and restarted. No matter what I do I can't get that OTHER off there.

The 'Other' entry appears because you activated root. Root is the 'other.'
Either de-activate root or switch to 'Name and password' in the Login Options pref in 'Accounts.' |

ok, thank you. I will try that. Last question, how do you de-activate root. I assumed exit would de-activate it?

Run NetInfo Manager; it's in the Utilities folder.
Click the lock to authenticate as an admin then go to the 'Security' menu and select 'Disable Root User'. Save, and logout. The 'Other' user should be gone.

I personally se text login, not the select method...this way you'll never see the *other*
