Recently, I have been noticing very strange problems with my daily tasks in OS X:
- It would take forever to mount my 5th Gen iPod and external USB2 Hard Drive - When mounted, it data transfer rates is "very slow" All my firewire drives and other devices are working as per normal. From the system.log file I have noticed these entries which is not making any sense to me. You need to try your USB devices one at a time to see if you can isolate the error. It sounds like you've been ignoring the tablet in your testing thus far; make sure to unplug it too.

out of curiousity, how slow is very slow?
Does the computer think it is either a usb1 device or a usb1 bus? |
