IE 5.1 and MIME application/x-httpd-php

I built MySQL, Apache, Web_Dav and PHP using a walk-through from devshed.com on OS X 10.1. I'm having two problems:

1) After doing make as well as sudo make install for php 4.2.1, I encountered the error
/usr/bin/libtool: internal link edit command failed
make[1]: *** [libphp4.la] Error 1
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
What does that mean?

2) I configured and restarted apache to use php 4.x and now when I test it by opening my pre-made "localhost/phpinfo.php" I get the unknown MIME type error dialog saying that IE 5.1 doesn't know how to handle the file of MIME type "application/x-httpd-php". How do I fix this? Thanks!
