Sibling Link- some education, please?

Today I ran across the now mundane issue of an "Invalid Sibling Link", which causes the disk with said issue to be unbootable (the solution, btw, is to whip out your trusty copy of DiskWarrior and beat said troublesome disk back into submission). So, OK. I know WHAT the problem is, I just do not know the CAUSE. Corruption is a fine explanation for me. What I would like is a good 'n' proper definition of a "sibling link". Vas ist?

a filesystem is a structure of blocks linked in any number of ways, up/down links (parent/child), back/forth links (brother/sister), diagonal links (incestuous uncle)...

for the structures to have integrity, all these links must be correct, and there are structures to keep track of these links that provide parity checks.

what you have is a dangling little sister link that don't comply with the map and can't be resolved, like a skip in a Herb Alpert record, as opposed to a skip in a hip-hop record, which you prolly wouldn't notice, and no parity in the world could care less about. but i digress.
