10.1 Tiny Terminal windows

Hi gang,

I'm running Jaguar on a souped up PowerMac 7300 (Yes, I know I'm due for a new box...). Since a little while ago, my Terminal windows all come up at an incredibly tiny size. I can't even grab the resize handle to make them bigger. All I can see is a little square with the Close (red) button in it. Has anybody else gotten out of a similar mess? What can I try?

Thanks!

Paul

Terminal -> Window Settings...

"Display" is one of several pulldown box selections - you can then set default settings.

Or you can save different settings as terminal files and even launch them from your dock (i.e., I have one for light local terminal, dark local terminal and one that connects to server).

hmm, i think you might want to select [ window ] of the settings dialog and enter a suitable dimension for the window, then ( use settings as default )

Monaco disabled?

I've seen reports of this phenomenon in Panther being attributed to system fonts (specifically Monaco, the default font for Terminal) being disabled or removed, so you might check to ensure that the Monaco font in System/Library/Fonts/ is enabled.

Font mangled

My font read:

(null) 929645477412296877167326210424103526084635648543610256562674915622306832616201399534683399259950441497846812925003021340 304799045007909776636129706935719872329900585687793269486361787396428919073306568051010166345658832782172189310311479640 064.0 pt.

Funky, huh?

Tried setting it to Monaco using the Window Settings dialog, and after a restart of the application, it worked. The window size was all messed up, too.

Thanks a bunch, guys. Chalk one up to experience...
