replacing iDisk with remote server
I currently pay for web hosting, so have my own web space, e-mail address and storage remotely online at all times - it seems silly for me to pay for a .Mac account.
Is it possible for me to somehow overide the settings for iDisk, so that when I choose "Go>>iDisk" in the Finder menu, it brings up my remote storage space instead of asking for my iDisk details? This would be invaluable to me - all help much appreciated!

Many thanks indeed for the reply and the link - it certainly makes for interesting reading.
However, it's not quite what I had in mind. I don't have the luxury of a second Mac at a remote location, so setting up a web server isn't the answer for me. I was hoping that I could somehow hack OSX to connect to the same disk space that I use to host my web space (via FTP/SFTP/SSH?). I'm intending to put in place a remote back up system, and doing this through an iDisk style affair seemed sensible.

Thank you both - Jacco; that's exactly what I meant. Darndog; the forwarding may come in handy also. Since I don't have admin access to the webserver, it looks as if it will be a dead end here. Short of shelling out for a .Mac account, that is...
