Cool Terminal color combinations?

In my quest to improve my herd status and increase my mating potential, I've started messing with Terminal colors. You know, the background and text color.

Anybody have any good color combinations, other than white-with-black-text and black-with-green-text?

I remember some old computers with amber text on black background, that's not too bad. Blue text on a gray background is pretty good. I use green text on a black background. Hope this helps you increase your herd status and your mating potential, but don't hold your breath.

Maize text and blue background are the best, straight up.

Wow, and I'm lookin' for a mate with a cool terminal

If you use a black background, be sure to set the transparency high.

These are my settings (all colours specified as RGB):

Background: 33.47.64
(transparency set at about the 4th tick from the left)

Cursor: 255.255.0

Normal Text: 255.255.204

Bold Text: 132.188.255

Selection: 96.117.148

Though I can't say that I've noticed that they've improved my sex life any, but good luck

Me on who? Seriously, isn't cyan the easiest color on the eye?

yellow, ROFL!

I'm pretty boring....

I like black on white and sometimes yellow on black. All other combos seem to give me a headache.

I've been using licorice on a LCD green-ish background that I (color-)picked from iTunes. It is a nice soft combination. Incidentally, the reverse colors also works fine.

Being the art student here's what I did: Warm colors tend to come up, and cool colors tend to recede into the background. It doesn't take much color for your eye to capture the difference either, so my colors are very very faint.

So what I did was make the background of the terminal a blue black and added a bit of transparency. The normal text has a tiny bit of cyan into it so it harmonizes with the window (never use pure white). Bold text however has a tiny bit of cream, it really stands out.

You can play with your own variations if you want. Good contrasts are also green/red, purple/yellow and blue/orange. Don't make it jarring, just a tiny tiny bit of these colors will be enough to make them stand out a lot.

Oh, and most definitely make it dark background light lettering, I've never understood why apple ships with black over white as the default.

...improve my herd status and increase my mating potential...

change the font to something hard to read, like russian, klingon or borg, and set the colours to either headache-bold or low, low contrast. Practice until it's natural. Won't increase your mating potential, but may raise your herd status to unix-demigod 'cause no one else will understand what you are doing.

Acme.mail.order, I am already a Unix demi-god. Er, demigoddess. Sadly, my friends and family don't respond to Unix commands.

rm -rf weird_uncle_ted
/sbin/mother > /dev/null/
mv /friends/playstation2 ~/

Ah, I amuse myself.

grrl_geek,
you might want to do

srm -rf weird_uncle_ted

to get rid of all the incriminating evidence.

Bright green on very dark green. Ever so slightly transparent. Except for the shortcut that runs ssh to the server.

I remember from my college days (a long time ago), there was a study (by whom I don't know) that revealed that dark maroon text on a tan/beige was the easiest on the eyes. So in Eudora, BBEdit and the Terminal, I use said combinations. I think it is easier on the eyes.
