Mail doesn't recognise attachements

Most of the attachements are recognised, but only some of them not. I can only see the message body and can see the size and as soon as I view the raw source (ALT+CMD+U) I can view the attachement (base64 encoded).

How can I let Mail recognise this attachement???

Sall piece of help, I know, but...

You need to get hold of a base64 decoder for Mac.

Like YA-Base64
http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/Decoding/ya64.html
or OpenUp 3.1
http://www.eskimo.com/~pristine/compen.html
(along with a horde of others...)
or YA-Decoder
(same link...)
or some such tool.

Actually, the StuffIt Expander allready on your system ought to handle this, shouldn't it?

more specified...

The thing is, most attachements are viewable: there is a paperclip in the title and the attachement can be seen or heard. But only some of them doesn't show up: no paperclip, nothing to see/hear. But, the message size is like 400KB. In the raw source something like this can be found:

--UNISYS_MAILER_BoUnDaRy_StRiNg_By_S_TuInDeR\n
Content-Type: application/octet-stream; file=MESSAGE.WAV\n
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64\n
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=MESSAGE.WAV\n
\n
UklGRlCECABXQVZFZm10IBAAAAABAAEAQB8AAIA+AAACABAAZGF0YSyECABs/2z/bP+EAHT/\n
jACUAJQAhACMAIwAdP90/4QAZP9I/zj/SP9s/5AAkACIAFT/TP9c/2z/hACwAJgAxADEAMQA\n
xAC0AMQAoABU/8QAkACsAKAAyAAIAbAAsACkAFj/aP/8/kz/HP8g/+j+5P5s/1j/WP9w/4QA\n
nAC0AKwAqAAIAfgA2ADIAMQA7ACgAJAAjACYAMgAlABc/5wAkACIAJAAIP80/zD/DP88/8T+\n

etc.
So it isn't possible to save the file to the desktop whatsoever and decode it from there. Any clues???

in my cursory trot thru mail.app, i found that it's attachment handling is atrocious. can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em.

you might try to forward one of those squirrely emails to a yahoo account and see if it might let you manipulate it, or try another email client.

but, it might be a malformed mime header. are the other squirrelies by unisys_mailer?

weird!

I discovered the following: I autoforwarded the messages (it's voicemail in e-mail) to a web-based e-mail account. Here I can listen to the attachements.

When I forward these messages to my mac.com account Mail shows the message as an attachement and also in this way I can listen to my voicemails, but... I discovered that the original header of the message had changed into something different.

So I suppose it's something with the original headers and I shall contact the guys from the voicemail service to ask if they can do something about this.

Thanks for the help. Cheers!
