iBlog makes blogging easy

Check it out.

And while you're at it, you can see what I've done using it. You'll be sure to want to bookmark that page.

BTW, it works very well with the iApps and a .Mac account, and actually makes .Mac more worthwhile--to me, at least.

Anyone else have experience with this app, or other blogging software?

Just set up a blog last month using MovableType and am currently populating it with a bunch of posts before I "go public" with it.

MovableType has excellent documentation, customizability, a helpful user forum...and there sure are alot of good blogs out there one can get design ideas from.

Ditto on Movable Type, the server requirements are quite explicit and the plugin support is crazy good, and it's simple to use. With Kung Log (and even NetNewsWire) posting is straight forward.

Wink

I am new to this forum, have a question. Has anyone tried using IBlog for their .mac site. I can't seem to create a link to my blog.

Could anyone give me some advice on how to get it to work. The support on the IBlog site isn't that great.

Thanks
annette

No problem here.

I just set it up in the Preferences > Publish. Have you configured that part properly?

could you give me some ideas on how to publish it? The IBlog folder is in my .mac site folder.

How would I put a link to it in my menu of links on my .mac site?

Would appreciate some help if possible.

Am I the only one who thinks Lifli is courting a ceast-and-desist letter with that site design?

computerwheelie, the easiest way for you to get the url would be to check the iBlog General Preference to launch your browser after publishing. Then you can get the url. See how that goes for you.

OK, but where's the iLife connectivity?

I like iBlog just fine, but it does have a mysterious "iLife" preferences tab which implies you'd be able to display information like, perhaps, the last iTunes track you listened to, or the last iPhoto picture added to your library. This would be a useful feature.

Anyone know what this tab is for, and if so, how to use it?

Thanks!

Matt

My blog is "finished"

After a fair amount of tweaking and twaddling (I'm sure I'll continue to fiddle with it), my blog is now public: russcam

another vote for MovableType

Just to wake up this thread ...

I've recently set up two weblogs using MovableType - a main blog and a photo blog - and while MT does have a reasonably steep learning curve, it's absolutely excellent. Setting up a basic blog is extremely easy (you just need to install and configure the various cgi scripts) and the customization options (achieved by modifying the provided templates) are excellent. And as bassi mentioned, the plugin support is phenomenal.

As an aside, I'd be interested in receiving some feedback on either or both of my blogs.

Re: another vote for MovableType

Looks really good, Dave. I really like the photos.

I've stuck it out with iBlog, although it's changed my base url through the upgrades and I decided to just do something to post notices about changes on my web site.

Recent subscribers to .mac can now download and use iBlog, which works very well with .mac.

Thanks. And yes, you're right, MT wouldn't work with a .mac account.

By the way, I just tried to find your site (the link in the original post to this thread doesn't point to it any more) and found one at http://homepage.mac.com/philothea/ but it looks as though your style-sheet has gone awol. Your index file references one (styles-site.css in the same directory as your index) but it doesn't appear to be there.

Re: Re: Re: another vote for MovableType

Right!

Like I said, one of the iBlog updates changed everything. My running account of webmaster miseries can now be found at http://homepage.mac.com/philothea/B1...740/index.html
