Upgrade Pismo or buy Refurb iBook 700

My daughter has a G3 Pismo 400 which she finds slow and balky. She uses Jaguar and connects via Airport.

She is considering either upgrading the Pismo, possibly buying 2 512 memory modules. She is also considering upgrading the processor of ths Pismo to a G4.

Her alternative is buying a refurbished iBook 700.

I have a few questions:
Can the Pismo 400 accept 512 in each slot?

Can it really be upgraded to a G4 processor? If she does that does she get the same kind of RAM as if she does not?

Which alternative would give her a better machine?
