Question Reset window size problem

iTunes is displaying a window size that is below my monitor. In other words with the top of the window all the way up, the bottom is below the bottom. Therefore I cannot resize it.

Since Lion, the yellow-minimize and green-maximize don't work the same, so neither work to properly resize the window. Going full screen works, but only in full-screen mode.

So how can I get the window size back so I can properly scale it to what I want?

Thanks.

Have you tried Window>Zoom (control-option-command-=)?

Make the window smaller by dragging its top edge down. (Since Lion, windows can be resized from any edge or any corner.)

Move the window up.

Repeat as needed.

(If you hold the option key while dragging the top edge down, the bottom edge will move up by the same amount. That can halve the number of iterations required.)

Someone else around here—I've forgotten who that was—had a helpful tip for situations like this: Use System Preferences > Displays to set your screen to a lower resolution, move the window, then restore your usual setting in Displays.

This worked. In my case I had the problem where the resize control remained hidden. Rather than use the author's method of changing the screen resolution, I instead moved the dock to the left side. When I did, iTunes suddenly had the resize control back and I was able to resize it.

Thanks for the hint.
