Windows 8 is here!

The tiles are default. The ornamentation is one of the included wallpapers. Horrific.

As much as I've been liking Microsoft as of late, I've got to say that Windows 8 is possibly a step in the wrong direction.

I don't mind that they have a tablet interface and a desktop interface. But I think it should be up to the user what environment they want as default. Apple doesn't boot you directly into launchpad and then make you select "Go To Desktop" to get back to your traditional OS X desktop. Microsoft shouldn't force everyone to boot into Metro and then select "Go to Desktop" to get back to the traditional Windows desktop.

Also, the removal of the Start Menu is going to cause a lot of pain with longtime Windows users.

I have to hand it to Microsoft, at least they're actually innovating and not standing still, but I feel like they might be approaching this the wrong way.

Having nearly got rid of XP/SBS2003 from my deployments to windows 7/SBS2011....it will be a very long time moving to windows 8 ;-)
