Mobee Power Bar - charger for Magic TouchPad
I love my Apple Magic TouchPad, but the constant tedium of having to replace batteries drives me potty. I have two sets of rechargeable batteries, and I have to make sure one set is fully charged when the old set dies.
Enter the Mobee Power Bar. It's a slim metallic tube** that takes the place of the two AA batteries inside the TouchPad and also of the screw-cap used to house them. It sticks out 8mm further, and has a mini (micro?)-USB port on the end. Long and short is: you can use your TouchPad without ever having to worry about batteries again. Once charged from the USB connection, you can unplug it and run the charge down. Or leave it plugged in. They also make similar products for the wireless keyboard, and a docking power station for the Magic Mouse. If Apple made a Touchpad that had a USB connection, rather than using batteries and Bluetooth, I'd buy it today. But they don't. So for now, there's Mobee. ** My wife did say "why are you so excited by a silver tampon?" |

As a follow up to this post -- I've recently had some excellent customer support from Mobee.
My Power Bar works fine -- seems to be holding its charge, though I generally leave it plugged in. However, it's constantly reporting 15% in the BlueTooth menulet, which means I have a flashing warning, which is slightly annoying. Anyway, Mobee's initial response was: "Give us your address. We'll send you another one." No quibble; no "have you tried turning it off and on?". Excellent customer support. |

Ah - if only one could get one of those in India. Keeping batteries charged is such a pain. Maybe one day

Their Magic Mouse inductive charger looks pretty slick too. Very Apple-like design.
