transfering apps between iPhones

I have two iPhones
on one iPhone I have an app which is no longer available on the app store which I would like to transfer onto the other iPhone... is there a way to do this?
Thanks

You need to get the app on your Mac in order to transfer it to the other phone. If it's not already on your Mac (or if a newer version is all that's on your Mac), there are a few approaches to try.
  • The older version of the app may be retrievable from a Time Machine backup. Apps are stored in ~/Music/Mobile Applications.
  • In iTunes, if you right-click on the sidebar listing of the phone which has the app, selecting Transfer Purchases may copy the app to your Mac
  • An application like PhoneView may enable you to copy it from the phone which has the app. There are other Mac applications which offer similar functionality. http://ecamm.com/mac/phoneview
  • I think this will work: If you peruse the files from a backup with quickLook, you should see the app. You would need to copy the backup file, change it's name and extension to what they should be, and then add the app to iTunes. This is a bit of a pain, but I list it more as a last-resort option.

Apps are stored in ~/Music/iTunes/"Mobile Applications".
