"Correct" file attributes for user files?

After an error in a Chronosync job between my MacBook and iMac, I noticed that the file attributes on my iMac were different from those on the MacBook.

The iMac reports
Code:
-rw-r--r--@ 1 Ben Ben
whereas the MacBook reports
Code:
-rw-r-----@ 1 Ben staff
This is the case for pretty much all my files. Folders obviously have d and all x flags set.

I'm guessing that having everyone read my files is an error (though I don't think they can actually browse my user account). But I have no idea how this happened. Does the group attribute really matter?

(And I've just found out that merely changing a file attribute flag on all your files is enough for Time Machine to backup everything again!)
