Open With opens some, not all HTML docs with TextWrangler

I don't know if this is an OS X problem or not...I am working with a copy of my site downloaded from my host; html files, images and the css file.

I need to edit those HTML files, and use TextWrangler for that. I grabbed all files and chose Open With TextWrangler from the contextual menu...

But only 3 or 4 open in Textwrangler, not the 30 I need it to open!

I did get one of those "this has been downloaded/are you SURE you want to open" which I OK'd but still, only 4 open up.

Any thoughts on what the cause/fix is?

thank you!

I have nothing to suggest as a cause, but for a fix you could select one of the HTML files, pull up the Get Info window, then set the Open With to TextWrangler followed by clicking the Change All button.

thanks, I tried that, and turned all the icons from Safari Icons to that gray card that says "exec" in top left corner...and they still wouldn't open up in TW.

I am doing it one at a time, and after saving, THAT makes them behave!

how...Flintstoney

Perhaps you should try rebuilding the Launch Services database. If you already have a utility like Onyx, it has the capability, or you can do it with Terminal.

Code:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -rfv -all user, system, local
