Unhappy formatted disk in Bootcamp, now can't start Mac

Please help. I was trying to install windows using bootcamp and was told to format a disk of roughly 100GB which is larger than the windows partition. I wrongly did that and now I can't start the MAC. I've got a lot of important files and I have no backup...

I used another mac and firewire connection trying to copy all files. But I only saw the windows partition (roughly 100GB) and couldn't see the MAC partition. What do I do?

Thanks a lot!

"Told to format a disk of roughly 100GB"
what told you ? Were you using boot camp assistant ?
You need to explain more what is going on !
What OS are you using ? 10.7.4, 10.6.8 or 10.5.8 ?

You need to completely stop what you are doing and likely you have lost data if you formatted your drive using disk utility from other Mac !
Always have backups everyone needs them and especially when you are about to mess about with partitions on your hard disk.

When you connect using firewire run this command in Terminal and post back info.
Code:
diskutil list

I think you have formatted your boot partition as well, that's why you are not able to boot your Mac. Now you need an external boot DVD. Try the one comes with Stellar Phoenix Mac. Insert DVD, Start your Mac, and recover your important data from your Mac partition.
