iTunes TV epsiodes will not play on iPad

So my wife bought a TV series on her iPad. She downloaded the first episode directly to her iPad and it worked fine.

She doesn't sync very often, so I fired up iTunes on her Mac and it downloaded all of the remaining episodes. However, it will not sync them, saying that they are in an incompatible format.

Has anyone seen this before?
