Snow Leopard on "Lion-only" Mac mini. How?

I've read that it's possible to boot certain Macs that Apple says are "Lion-only" if using some of the later Snow Leopard versions, specifically, 10.6.8. I intend to do this. Thus far, I'm stumped as to how to do it.

You might ask: "What equipment do you have?"

Mac mini (mid-2011)
Lion (10.7.4)
Snow Leopard retail DVD (10.6.3)
Snow Leopard combo updater (10.6.8)
clone of previous Snow Leopard partition from MacBook Pro (10.6.5)
internal HD partitioned and ready for data
external HD partitioned and ready for data

I do not currently have a second Mac, and I'm trying to accomplish this without leaning on anyone.

So, just about everything I've tried thus far has failed:

Installer from SL DVD won't run in Lion.
SL DVD (10.6.3) won't boot my Mac.
SL clone from MBP (10.6.5) won't boot my Mac.
Updater won't update SL (10.6.5) cloned to another partition.

Any way(s) to make this work?
