Lion Server: Opinions on Shared printers

Hey folks

I'm running Lion Server at my location and have about 75 users on various Mac devices and a couple of Windows users. I've never set-up printers on the server to be shared to the users, I have always just configured printers for everyone's system.

I'm thinking that I'm wasting my time here, that configuring them through the CUPS interface on the server should make set-up easy for the end user. Am I correct? Can anyone tell me the benefits of setting up shared printers on the server? Is it worth the trouble? Anything I should look out for or expect?
