Data Rescue 3 can't open files
So I screwed up and reformatted a hard drive but still needed the contents. I used data rescue 3 and with a deep scan it actually found me all of the files and folders. I had lots of images on this drive, but now they won't open. Any ideas on how to get these images to open. Is there a better way to recover files from a reformat on Lion?

Can you tell us a lot more about this? How do you know that they are images? What have you done (tell us in great detail, in a step-by-step story form) to try to open them? Trevor

1. Did you recover the files to another drive? Or are you trying to view them in place?
2. Do they have the proper extension? e.g. .jpg / .png / .gif 3. If they appear to have the proper extension, do they have a hidden extension on top of it? Use Get Info on the file to find out. 4. I suppose we don't need to nag you about backups now? |

Testdisk would've served you a whole lot better.
