iMac Lion USB Ports

I am not sure where to post this but the iMac is hardware and here is my potential issue.

When connecting several devices Epson Printer, Scanner via USB ports on the iMac the scanning or printing operation freezes, will not complete.

Attached to the iMac I have a powered USB Hub (Dr. Bott) when connected to the hub these devices work perfectly.

Is there something wrong with the iMac USB ports?

Do I need to replace them under AppleCare.
