Best iTunes import settings for Speech?

I'm looking at the iTunes import settings here; nothing leaps out, though I'm guessing speech can sound fine on the smaller bit-rate settings..is this about right?

thank you,

I don't have a definitive answer, but I'll point out a couple things.
  • You could try a couple different settings to see if you notice a difference.
  • The AAC Encoder has a setting for Spoken Podcast. Likewise, the Custom options for AAC include one for Optimize For Voice (whatever that actually means).
  • The podcasts I've downloaded through iTunes are all MP3s with a 44 kHz sample rate and a 64 kbps bit rate. They sound fine, and you may be able to go to an even lower quality settings if your recordings are good enough.
  • For reference, the podcasts I have tend to use about 28 MB per hour of content, nothing too spacious.
