Uninstall PcPhoneHomePro
Safari 5.0.6 keeps crashing on OS X 10.5.8, and I get a message that says,
"The application Safari quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the .PcPhonehomePro.tmp plug-in." Trouble is, I can't find such a plugin on my computer at all. I contacted Brigadoon's tech support, and they sent me an uninstaller which did nothing. Anyone know how to get rid of this thing? About the same time this started, I also started getting several other apps quitting unexpectedly the second I try to open them. I've tried Disk Utility, Preferential Treatment, AppleJack—nothing helps. Should I just back up everything and move up to 10.6 and get on with life? The Mac is a 2 x 2.26 GHz quad-core Intel Xeon, if that helps. —kr |

In case anyone else has a similar problem, I think I have figured it out.
Safari has not crashed due to this "plug-in" for several hours, and other apps have not quit unexpectedly upon opening. I used the free Flashback Removal Tool from here: http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/troj...shback_k.shtml It reported that it found Flashback on my system and that it removed it. I also disabled Java in Safari preferences, which was a precaution mentioned on a support page on the Apple site. —kr |
