Sure. You can put your radio speaker near the Mac microphone port and record that. Some radios have headphone jacks and you can connect that to your Mac's audio input.

Why would you need software to do that?
You did say "record radio to your mp3 player", so record direct from the radio to the MP3 player.

Can you be more specific about what you really want to do?

There's your iTunes, which will play from a large variety of radio sources.
On the internet, Pandora, or IHeartRadio.com or something similar.
All depends on what works best for you, and what you want to accomplish.
