Panic after SD Card ingest

I have a MacPro - 8 core running Snow Leopard current with all updates.

Recently, I have been doing a lot of work with stills. I will do an ingest of an CF card into LR4 and everything is fine. The card ejects post ingest as expected and I generally remove it post ingest.

After about an hour or so post ingest my machine will kernel panic. The report indicates an issue with the USB connection to the CF card reader.

Since there are no drivers that are specific to the CF card reader, I assume the issue lies with the OS's driver or what have you.

Can anyone offer any insight here as to what I might try to resolve this issue?

TIA!

I think there aren't any CF specific drivers involved because the card reader presents itself to the computer as a typical USB mass storage device, just like any other external hard drive or flash memory stick.

Based on that, I'd suspect that the problem is with the card reader. It could be that the reader starts to send garbage over the USB connection, which causes the panic.

Can you try the reader on another machine? Or another reader on this one? What about disconnecting the reader after you're done with your import?

Also, you may want to post the report that you say indicates an issue with the USB connection.

Thanks Fracai. I am going to try a different card reader tonight. The reason I did not suspect it is because the only time I see the panic is about an hour after ingest.

ingest |inˈjest| verb [ with obj. ]
take (food, drink, or another substance) into the body by swallowing or absorbing it.

Right, is bscenefilms not a cyborg?

Gah, I should have thought of that, this is just a case of indigestion. Try ingesting some Compu Bismol immediately after the CF card...

;-)
