Are you asking how to make a bootable DVD? Or just how to back up your internal drive?

If you don't have a portable DVD burner, what are you using to burn DVDs?

If it were me, I'd purchase a correctly sized USB drive and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable backup of your boot device.
