I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6xx. I noticed last week the chime didn't play when starting up the laptop. I zapped the PRAM and it is fine now. However, yesterday I have noticed that when I go to the Shutdown command, the laptop shuts down without the little window/message asking if I am sure that I want to shutdown...... It just shuts down.
I've tried to find something online regarding it but didn't find anything. I hope someone here might be able to help me get the little shut down prompt back? It's good to have because there have been times, I've inadvertently chose the shutdown command in the menu and actually didn't intend or want to shut down. I hope I have this in the proper thread. If not, I apologize. Thank you beforehand. Last edited by pam.in.ny; 03-22-2012 at 01:42 PM. |

The Macbook I bought last year does that occasionally. In fact, the newer Macs don't behave at all like the older ones.
I find them to a lot more arbitrary. Like turning the camera light on after a forced restart. Not making the startup chime sometimes. Not responding to the Force Quit Menu. You aren't alone. But that's probably cold comfort if you're worrying about your Mac.
