There sure is. Take the phone to your service provider and tell them you are going to Europe for a month. They shouldn't have any problem unlocking it.

I don't know which sources are reliable on the internet for this, if indeed a sim card unlock/baseband unlock exist.

Not to ask a silly question but what carrier you moving from and toward? Also note that when your out of contract at&t is finally willing to do the deed.

I asked because there really is only AT&T and T-Mobile. With T-mobile is most locations you get very slow data edge owing to net diffs that only T-mobile uses though they are slowly rolling out better compatible nets for Iphones. That and you give up visual voice mail. There are some pre-paid options too, they mostly use T-mobiles net. Price is nice and low.

Well, I have one of the Canadian providers. (There really are only 2 Bell Canada and Rogers- everything else is a subsidiary IE Fido , Telus, Virgin mobile).


The reason why is sbecause when I visit my family in the USA, I want to be able to buy a crappy AT&T card or t-mobile card.

Ahh. Whats there rule on Cross border unlocks? Also was not clear from the post whether that unlock included the baseband or just the ability to put apps.

Hi anthlover I don't understand what you mean by cross border unlocks I am for lack of a better understanding going to assume you mean what do Canadian companies do when u want to vacation with your phOne ....well if the phone is older than 1 year old they charge a fee tO unlock like 40. . Since I have a 4s they won't do that right now.


As for th topic question I believe that absinthe 0.4 or (green poison) is only for apps and not baseband

Unrelated to the thread, but there are 3 main providers, TELUS, Rogers and Bell. Virgin is not a subsidiary, but uses Bell's network. There are other providers of course, SaskTel, MTS, NorthWest Tel, etc, but those are the 3 main ones.

None of the providers unlock iPhones, AFAIK.

That is for the jailbreak. Then you need to unlock, assuming your baseband is unlockable.
